Spanish Bird List

The official Spanish bird list dates from 2005, and we provide an updated provisional list (up to March 2010) covering the categories A-D.

Bluethroat Luscinia svecica© John MuddemanGiven the natural delays between observations, their reporting, subsequent study by the Spanish Rarities Committee and their final publication (normally 2+ years), there is clearly some difference between an available offical list and what has actually been seen. The official Spanish list now dates from 2005, despite partial updating on the web, and consequently, a more up-to-date list (to mid-January 2010) including all the recent, but as yet pending records, is available on the Spain bird list page.
A few notes on other species not currently considered in the official list are also provided. Please see the page for more details.
