Ursus arctos© Fundación Oso PardoA rather belated happy New Year to you all!
Perhaps 2013 will not be so auspicious, however, for Spain's last remaining Brown Bears, as we've just learned that government funding for the work of the Fundación Oso Pardo (Brown Bear Foundation) has been drastically cut, perhaps not unexpectedly in the light of the current economic crisis. Fortunately, FOP President Guillermo Palomero had the foresight to contact us last summer with an innovative idea: a joint venture for a dedicated bear-watching tour in the Somiedo Natural Park (Asturias), matching the incomparable expertise of the FOP wardens with our comprehensive knowledge of Iberian wildlife and organisational skills.
The result? The latest in our series of specialised natural history tours: In Search of the Littlest Grizzly - Cantabrican Brown Bears in Somiedo.
Brown Bear in Somiedo Natural Park© Fundación Oso Pardo It's a 'win-win' situation: we make a sizeable donation to FOP, thus helping the organisation to continue its essential work towards the recovery of the Cantabrican Brown Bear (as well as recruiting a suite of new members, which won't cost you a penny!), and you get the best possible opportunity to observe these remarkable creatures amid splendid scenery in the wilds of Northern Spain, also home to a wealth of other montane fauna and flora.

Wishing you all the best for 2013, and hoping to see you soon.
